Mason Jar Brownie Cake Sundaes

Mason Jar Brownie Cake Sundaes

When it comes to a family night in, there is one thing that’s a given in my house. Food.

When we all huddle up under blankets on the sofa to watch something on tv, we have to have some kind of snack to go along with it. Depending on our mood, sometimes we go for savory apps, but nine times out of ten we prefer sweet treats. These Mason Jar Brownie Cake Sundaes are always a crowd pleaser.

Here’s what you need:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup walnuts finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Here’s what you do:

In a small bowl stir together flour, sugar, baking soda and cinnamon. Set aside.

In medium saucepan combine butter, water and cocoa powder. Heat and stir until butter is melted and mixture is well blended. Remove from heat and stir in flour mixture.

Add buttermilk, egg and vanilla. Beat by hand until smooth. Stir in walnuts.

Pour mixture into sterilized wide-mouth canning jars. Can use 1/2 pint or pint size. Only fill half way.

Bake in oven on 325-degrees for 35-40 minutes.

Let cool and then add ice cream and sprinkles to the top.

While the routine itself is a no-brainer for us, finding something that everyone wants to watch can be tough!

I grew up watching Full House, so I am looking forward to watching Fuller House with my family later this month….while eating brownie sundaes of course. I am super psyched to see Stephanie, Kimmy and DJ back on the small screen later this month. Fuller House premiers on Netflix on Feb. 26!

Note: I am a member of the Netflix StreamTeam. As part of the #streamteam, I have received product and complimentary service, but all opinions are 100% my own.
