No Bake Peppermint Bark Recipe

Christmas will be here before we know it and I could not be happier about it. I love this time of the year. The food, the family, the presents, the decorations – I love all of it. One tradition that I look forward to every year is cutting down our Christmas tree and spending the afternoon decorating it. While decorating the tree itself is fun, I always like to make something special for my family to munch on while we trim the tree. One of my family’s favorites is my famous No Bake Peppermint Bark and I hope you like it as much as my family does.

Here’s what you need:

  • 1 cup of dark chocolate chips
  • 2 cups of white chocolate chips or Baker cubes (2 boxes)
  • Candy canes

Here’s what you do:

1. Start by lining a cookie sheet with wax or parchment paper. It makes the whole process go smoothly if you have your lined cookie sheet ready to go.

2. Next, crush your candy canes by placing 6 of them in a baggie. Using a rolling pin, use your body weight to crush them as fine as you want them.

I prefer mine to be in chunkier pieces, but you can go really fine if you like it that way.

3. Melt your dark chocolate by microwaving the chips in 30 second intervals, stirring each time.

4. Spread the dark chocolate layer to a thin layer on your lined cookie sheet and then refrigerate for about 15 minutes or until hard.

5. Melt the white chocolate using the same method above. Carefully pour the white chocolate over the dark chocolate trying not to melt and swirl the two together.

6. Sprinkle your candy cane pieces over the white chocolate and gently using your palms, push the pieces into the white chocolate. Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes or until hard.

7. Once you remove your bark from the fridge, the candy should peel away from the wax/parchment paper. All that’s left is t breaks it into small pieces and serve.

Seriously, the peppermint bark only lasts a few minutes in my house before my family devours it.

But back to decorating our Christmas tree – while I was in Walmart this past weekend I found the cutest Hallmark ornaments there and I thought it would be fun to pick up a new ornament for our tree this year.

Ornament selections include 16 Walmart exclusives, resin figurines, Holiday Barbie, new deco figurines and more. There were so many cute ornaments to choose from that it was hard to decide which one I wanted to get.

I ended up going with Darth Vader because we are major Star Wars fans in our house.

Starting yesterday (11/15), at-shelf coupons for Hallmark products can be found in Walmart stores ($2 off/3 card purchase). And speaking of cards, while you’re at Walmart don’t forget to stock up on Hallmark Holiday Greeting Cards!

They have some seriously cute cards out this year.

With our peppermint bark to snack on and our new Darth Vader Hallmark Ornament, we are all set to trim our tree this year.

I’d love to hear all about your family Christmas traditions if you have any.
