If you’re a regular around here, you’ve probably read about my mom and how she’s been in failing health. If you haven’t heard about my mom yet, she has been sick for really, really long time. In addition to being a melanoma survivor (4+ years), she has a liver that practically doesn’t work anymore (she’s on the transplant list), she’s a diabetic and on top of all that, she literally has no immune system. There are quite a few other things, but those are the biggies.
Because of all her ailments, mostly the diabetes, she gets these wounds on her legs that just don’t heal. She has really bad varicose veins which make her skin susceptible to skin irritations. The smallest skin irritation can turn into a big one in her case and because these wounds take months and even years (yes, years) to start to get better, she’s in and out of the hospital with constant infections – and because of the infections, she’s in constant pain.
The doctors have tried everything with her to get those darn wound to heal. She’s been on many different medications, antibiotics and tried pretty much every wound care technique there is. Two weeks ago she ended up in the hospital for the second time this year.
She got admitted about two weeks ago and hasn’t been home since.
She actually got moved last week to a rehab facility where they are keeping her for at least a few more weeks. The wounds are so bad that she can’t even walk, so she needs to be someplace where she has round the clock care until they can get her situation under control and she can start walking again.
My mom isn’t that far away (about 45 minutes from me), but since I can’t get there to see her all the time, I wanted to find a way to stay in touch with her. Since she’s constantly got nurses, doctors and physical therapists in and out of her room, she can’t always take a phone call, but when I was at Walmart the other day, I found the perfect solution. I walked right into a pallet display of CloudPets(TM) and knew immediately that I wanted to get one for my mom.
CloudPets(TM) are a new, one-of-a-kind product that can help you stay in touch with your loved ones when they are far away. They are all so cute, but my boys and I decided that my mom would really like the Bear, so that’s the one we got for her.
In order for your CloudPets(TM) to work properly, all you have to do is download and use their free app! There are parental controls, too, so you can rest easy about the kids using it.
My boys and I brought the new CloudPet(TM) to my mom this past weekend and although she doesn’t look all that happy in the picture because she had just finished her PT and was in severe pain, she loved it. She really did. She was so happy that she was going to be getting some surprise messages from my boys during her stay in the rehab facility and I was happy that we were able to cheer her up a little bit.
CloudPets(TM) each take three AA batteries. At my Walmart, they had the batteries right next to the pallet display of CloudPets(TM), so I grabbed them at the same time that I got my Bear CloudPet(TM). Easy peasy.
CloudPets(TM) are available in select Walmart stores, but will be available nationwide soon. Click this link for a complete CloudPets(TM) tour and to find out how they work: How CloudPets(TM) Work!
The boys are loving being able to send their Nana messages any time they want and I know for a fact that my mom loves getting them.
I would love to hear how you would use your CloudPets(TM) to stay connected to your loved ones.
